- This is the help system for CD Answer.
- The help messages are generally just one screenfull, but may be
- longer. If so, small arrows will appear on the right border
- indicating this.

- Only a few keys are used:
- \4\x18\0, \4\x19\0 scrolls the help screen up or down a line
- \4PgUp\0, \4PgDn\0 scrolls the help screen up or down a page
- \4ESC\0 returns first to your original help screen.
- If pressed again, you will be returned to the
- point where you first pressed \4F1\0.

- Press \4Esc\0 to return to the operating system.
- Any other key will start the application.

- The copyrights for the CD-ROM data and for the retrieval software
- are as described on the screen.

- Press any key to enter the application.

- =2450 Help: SEARCH MENU

- You are entering search criteria.
-
- Commands are available by either pressing the Function (F1..F7) key
- corresponding to the desired action, or by pressing \4TAB\0 and using
- the \4\x1A\0 and \4\x1B\0 keys to highlight a command. The command is then
- executed by pressing \4\x11─┘\0.
-
- The commands here are:
-
- \4 Help \0 This help text.
- \4 Browse \0 List all the indexed words and fields.
- \4 Display \0 Go to the Display menu, and show the currently
- found documents.
- \4 Connection \0 Change the logical relations between the
- search criteria fields.
- \4 Storage \0 Save, Load or Clear then search criteria.
- \4 Setup \0 Alter program parameters and defaults.
- \4 Quit \0 Leave the program.
- =600 Help: BROWSE MENU

- The Browse command shows all terms indexed for a search field.
- Some fields have two index lists:

- \4 Words \0 Every word is indexed.
- \4 Entries \0 All the text in the field or parts of it
- is indexed.

- You are viewing all the terms in the index for this search field.
- You may use any of the normal movement keys (\4\x18\0, \4PgUp\0, \4End\0, etc.).

- To search for a particular term, simply start typing it. You may
- use \4\x1B\0 (backspace) to correct any typing errors. To clear the
- highlight, press \4Del\0.

- To bring the highlighted term into the search field, press \4\x11─┘\0.

- The found documents are displayed.

- Select a function by using the \4\x1B\0 or \4\x1A\0 keys and press

- \4 Full/List \0 Switch between List and Full document displays.
- \4 Format \0 Select display/list format and display fields.
- \4 Sort \0 Sort the found documents (only available in list)

- \4 Jump \0 Move to a particular document in the found documents.
- \4 Image \0 Display image(s) associated with data record.
- \4 Done \0 Return to the search screen.

- Here you can select the data fields you want displayed.

- In fixed field export formats (dBASE, Fixed Field) and column-
- oriented formats (Lotus, DIF), you may change the column width
- by typing a new width when the cursor is on the desired line.

- Press \4Ins\0 to select all fields.
- Press \4Del\0 to deselect all fields.

- Confirm the selection of the fields by pressing \4\x11─┘\0.
- Press \4Esc\0 to leave without saving any changes.

- \: Document... \0 Enter a document number (in the current found set) and
- press \4\x11─┘\0. Press \4Esc\0 to return without

- After selection, an entry window will appear:

- \: Document... \0 Enter a document number (in the current found set) and
- press \4\x11─┘\0. Press \4Esc\0 to return without
- jumping.
- \: Image Page... \0 Enter an image page number (from the current document) and
- press \4\x11─┘\0. Press \4Esc\0 to return without
- jumping.

- Additional jump menu choices may appear for certain records.
- =1850 Help: CONNECTION

- Using the "Connection" function lets you change the logical
- relations between search fields in the search menu.
-
- Press the spacebar to toggle the logical relation of the
- current search field to the remaining search fields. The
- normal movement keys (\4\x18\0, \4PgDn\0, etc.) move between
- the fields.
-
- The logical connectors are:
-
- \4 AND \0 \4 OR \0 \4 WITHOUT\0
-
- The default logical connector is \4AND\0 if the Connection
- function is not used.
-
- Press \4\x11─┘\0 to confirm the logical connector displayed and
- return to the Search Menu.

- Select a function from the storage menu by entering the first
- letter of the function or use the \4\x18\0 and \4\x19\0 keys to move
- the selection bar to the desired function and press \4\x11─┘\0.

- The functions are:

- \4 Load \0 Load a previously saved search from a file.
- \4 Save \0 Save the current search in a file.
-
- \4 Clear \0 Clear the current search from the screen.

- Select a function from this menu by using the \4\x18\0 and \4\x19\0 keys.
- Press the spacebar to alter the chosen function.

- The functions are:

- \4 Language \0 Select the user language from a list of those available.
- \4 Search format \0 Select the search format you wish to search with from
- the list of available Search formats.

- \4 Screen Colors \0 Alter colors used for menus, windows, etc.
- \4 Search Mode \0 Search only for \4exact\0 term as entered or use \4extended\0
- search to locate all components of entered term.
-
- Any changes made in this menu will be remembered next time
- the program is used.
- =2410 Help: OUTPUT

- Select the desired function from the menu by moving the cursor to the
- desired function and pressing \4\x11─┘\0.

- \4Print... \0 Send output to printer
- \4Print One...\0 Prints the current record or image page according to
- the settings in the rest of the output menu. You can
- invoke this command using the keychord \4Alt-P\0.
- \4To file... \0 Send output to a file
-
- \4Output Type\0 Select output format, e.g. text, database, etc.
- \4Text Format\0 For text formats, select which mask to be used
- \4Output Fields... \0 Choose which fields will be printed/exported
- \4Details... \0 Change output details

- \4Load settings... \0 Load previously saved output menu settings
- \4Save settings... \0 Save current output menu settings

- The current disk and directory are displayed at the top of the screen.
- Select the name of the file that you wish to load from the list.
-
- Use the \4\x18\0 , \4\x19\0, \4\x1A\0, and \4\x1B\0 keys to move the cursor to the
- filename in the directory list.
-
- Press \4\x11─┘\0 to confirm your selection.
-
- To erase a file, select the file name and press the \4Ctrl\0-\4Backspace\0
- keys simultaneously.
-
- To create a new directory, press \4Ctrl\0-\4\x11─┘\0, type in the new
- name, and press \4\x11─┘\0 again.
- =1300 Help: SELECT FILE TO SAVE

- The current disk and directory are displayed at the top of the screen.
- Type in the file name under which you wish to save and press \4\x11─┘\0.

- You can overwrite an existing file name by selecting the file name from
- the directory listing using the \4\x18\0, \4\x19\0, \4\x1A\0 and \4\x1B\0 keys.
- Confirm the selected file name with \4\x11─┘\0.
-
- To erase a file, place the cursor on the file name and press the
- \4Ctrl\0-\4Backspace\0 keys simultaneously.
-
- To create a new directory, press \4Ctrl\0-\4\x11─┘\0, type in the new
- directory name, and confirm with \4\x11─┘\0.
- =1600 Help: CREATE DIRECTORY

- To create a new subdirectory, enter the name of the new directory
- into the window and press \4\x11─┘\0.
-
- The new subdirectory name will immediately be seen in the file
- selection menu.
- =1250 Help: SELECT FILE

- The current disk and directory are displayed at the top of the screen.
- Select the name of the file that you wish to load from the list.

- Use the \4\x18\0 , \4\x19\0, \4\x1A\0, and \4\x1B\0 keys to move the cursor to the
- filename in the directory list, or enter a new name in the entry
- area above.

- Press \4\x11─┘\0 to confirm your selection.

- To erase a file, select the file name and press the \4Ctrl\0-\4Backspace\0
- keys simultaneously.

- =6455 Help: FORMAT
- Select an option from the menu using the space bar to toggle or, while
- viewing the screen, use one of the following commands to alter the display.
-
- The options are:
-
- \4Display format\0 Select the format for the document display.
- \4Display fields\0 Select the fields you wish to have displayed.
- \4List format\0 Select the format for the short listing of
- documents found.
- \4Default Size\0 Press the spacebar to toggle between three choices
- that change the size and scale of the image on the
- screen. \41:1\0 puts the image up in its original
- size. \4Full Page\0 scales the image to fit on the
- screen in its entirety. \41-D Fit\0 scales the image
- so that the smallest dimension of the image is
- expanded to take up the entire width or depth of
- the screen. This does not ensure that the entire
- image will show on the screen. When an image is on
- the screen, you can toggle the \4Default Size\0
- command using the keychord \4Alt-S\0.
- \4Zoom\0 Use \4Zoom\0 to zoom in on your image. When you
- select \4Zoom\0 a box appears enabling you to choose
- the area you want to zoom. Size the zoom box using
- the \4Ins\0 key to shrink the box and the \4Del\0 key
- to enlarge the box. Position the box using the movement
- keys. Press \4\x11\xd9\0 when you have selected the area.
- When an image is on the screen, you can use \4Alt-Z\0 to
- invoke \4Zoom\0.

- \2Notes:\0 \4\x1A Display format\0 is only an option when viewing the full
- documents.
- \4\x1A List format\0 is only an option when viewing the short list
- of documents found.
- \4\x1A Default Size\0 and \4Zoom\0 are only an option when viewing an
- image (ie. after \:F7:Image\0 has been invoked.)

- Select the name of the Display format in which you wish to have
- the data displayed.

- the data displayed.

- This menu allows control over printing/exporting functions.
- Available functions are:

- \4 First Document \0 Specifies the first document number in the set
- of documents found that will be printed/exported.
- \4 Last Document \0 Specifies the last document number in the set
- of documents found that will be printed/exported.

- \4 Output Field Names \0 Specifies whether the field names will be exported
- along with the data fields.

- \4 Print Search w/doc \0 When "Yes", each report will have search printed
- before documents.
-
- \4 Print image(s) \0 Yes (text+images) -- Prints text and images.
- No (text only) -- Prints text only.
- Yes (images only) -- Prints images only.

- \4 Page length \0 Specifies the printable lines per page. Set to zero (0)
- for continuous paper (e.g. labels).
- \4 Page eject \0 Specifies when the printer should advance the
- paper to a new page:
- \4 every doc \0 after each document
- \4 end of page \0 when no lines left on page
- \4 if doc crosses \0 if doc will not fit
- \4 never \0 continuous form printing

- Select the desired function using the \4\x18\0 and \4\x19\0 keys and press \4\x11─┘\0.

- \2NOTES:\0 \4\x1A\0 The \4First Document\0 and \4Last Document\0 selections allow
- you to specify a range within the set of documents found
- that will be printed or exported.

- keys and press \4\x11─┘\0.

- The available output types are:

- \4 Formatted Text \0 Output as formatted text (as it appears on
- the screen).
- \4 WordStar Text \0 Output as a WordStar WP file.
- \4 Comma Delimited \0 Output as a comma separated field text file.
- \4 Semicolon Delimited \0 Output as a semicolon separated field text file.
- \4 dBASE III(+) \0 Output as a dBASE III or III+.
- \4 Lotus \0 Output as a Lotus file.
- \4 DIF \0 Output as a DIF (Data Interchange Format) file.
- \4 Fixed Field \0 Output as fixed length fields.

- Select the name of the text format for printing or exporting the data.

- Type the numbers of the first and last documents to be

- Enter the printed lines per page. After this many lines have been
- printed, a form feed will be issued; therefore this number should be

- This menu specifies some of the more detailed options available
- under the Sort command.

- Available functions are:

- \4 Unindexed Docs. \0 When the sort field does not occur in a found
- document, should the document be discarded (omit) or
- retained (keep) ?

- \4 Mult. Indexed \0 When the sort field occurs more than once in some
- or all of the documents, should the document(s) be
- replicated (duplicate) for each index term or sorted
- by only the first index term (first).
- =8000 Help: COLOR SELECTION
- Use the \4\x18\0 and \4\x19\0 keys to select the component of the
- color to alter. Note that not all screens have the capability of
- using all choices shown.

- When on the line, the \4\x1A\0 and \4\x1B\0 keys will move the \2\x04\0 slide control
- and the resulting color will be shown at the top of the window.

- In this window, pressing \4Esc\0 will NOT save the changes.
- To enter the altered color, press \4\x11─┘\0.

- This submenu allows selection of colors for various elements of the
- retrieval software. Some choices may not be available, because they
- are fixed for this application.
